You are the mission!
A famous intellectual once said, "I am what's wrong with the world." Jesus said it this way, "...clean the inside...and then you are clean."
Time and Money...What you do with them reveals your heart's desires.
One point for you to understand: Your life, your soul, your character is a clear window. Most people see the window is dirty, and they clean the outside with great effort, not realizing that the real dirt is on the inside of the window.
Jesus said, "Take the telephone pole out of our eye, and then we can see to remove the splinter from someone elses eye." If we will take less interest in finding others problems and see our need to be whole, to come to peace in ourselves, then we will not bring such hardness in criticizing others.
Your search for meaning is everything. Some spend their whole life cleaning the outside of the window, and this person never sees that the dirt was on the inside all along.
Jesus prayed that your eyes would be open. He talked of blindness. In our search for meaning we limit ourselves to the world that we see. Jesus said that the Creator-Father is Spirit. We were created in His image. So when we believe His words, our spirit-nature connects to His Spirit nature. Do you know what an interlock is? An interlock is a device where one part gets twisted or overlapped into another part so that they will not come apart on their own. The Father is in the Son and in the Spirit. You are interlocked forever, in an unbreakable bond, so that you will never be removed from His throughout death and eternity. Yes, your importance is cosmic, that means universal, that means going even beyond this world. If your meaning is only in this world, then you are diminished, devalued, really insignificant because you wll cease. Jesus knows you must get past this death thinking, get past this idea of a trivial life. You are too big, too important, too eternal, to surrender to the death wish of a short life in this world with no future.
Now back to our example: I have cleaned a clear glass surface so much that I thought, "This has to be clean." Only to realize the dirt is on the other side. All of our efforts to clean the outside of our life, the externals, are really pointless unless we clean the inside. How do we clean the inside? By a complete surrender to Jesus, as the Shepherd of our soul. We are not made to live independently from Him. He knows you. He said that you will never be satisfied without Him. He is the water of your soul. You can't live without water in your body. You can't live without water in your soul. This water is the person of Jesus connected to you.
If I have five children, and they are lost. When I have found two of them
I do not rejoice and stop looking for the other three children. God is our
Father, and He loves all of His children. Let's find the other three, now, urgently.
If someone's back porch is burning, we do not casually have a conversation with them about the weather. No! We go right to the need. Your back porch is on fire! Hurry and do something, now, before it is too late, and you lose EVERYTHING! People are dying without the Savior, Jesus, the Christ. Tell them the Good News.
